Concurrent Ring is a LAN based on a token ring access method that uses a multiple transmissions scheme. It introduces a new concept for the transmission protocol. It has a good throughput response and a stable response with high workloads. With regard to other approaches like parallel-ring It has a severity disadvantage: its high station latency (16 bits). In this paper we introduce a new model with only 1 bit latency per station and a error recovery scheme. However, simulation studies show that Concurrent Ring (I bit latency) behaviour for high workloads offers a better throughput characteristic than the standard IEEE 802.5. This new approach of concurrent ring has a better receipt time-throughput than Parallelring and Pronet. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/10553/112710 | ISBN: | 0818653701 | DOI: | 10.1109/EMPDP.1994.592541 | Source: | Proceedings of the 2nd Euromicro Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Processing, (PDP 1994), v. 1, p. 559-565, (Enero 1994) |
