José Antonio Rial. Un viajero a Las Américas

Abstract

Además de formar parte de la extensa nómina de los intelectuales españoles exiliados tras la guerra civil, José Antonio Rial es uno de los más interesantes y prototípicos ejemplos de los emigrados canarios a Latinoamérica. El presente estudio se detiene en la revisión de su producción dramática, si bien es cierto que las constantes temáticas entre narrativa y teatro son continuas. Se centra principalmente en la historia como principio para revisar e interpretar el comportamiento humano e intentar vislumbrar un futuro más alentador, el mundo de la inmigración y la búsqueda de la tierra prometida.

Besides being part of the extensive list of the exiled Spanish intellectuals after the civil war, Jose Antonio Rial is one of the most interesting and typical example of the Canarian emigrants to Latin America. The present study pauses in the revision of his dramatic production, although it is certain that the thematic constants between narrative and theater are continuous. It concentrates mainly on history as principle to review and to interpret the human behavior and to try to take a glimpse at a more encouraging future, the world of immigration and the research of the promised land.
