dc.description.abstract | C reactive protein (CRP) has been widely studied in relation to inflammation and iron deficiency anemia. Recently, reticulocyte hemoglobin content (CHr) has received attention in the same regard, due to its relationship with iron stores. 12 dogs attending to the Dermatology service of Veterinary Clinic Hospital of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria were selected for the study of CRP, CHr and other common biomarkers of inflammation. CRP and CHr presented a weak correlation between them. While CHr does not seem like a good biomarker of inflammation for dermatitis and otitis, CRP seems like a good fit. More research is needed in these regards. | en_US |
