Use of Intra-Articular Infiltrations of Methadone and Lidocaine in Surgery for Dislocation of the Knee Ball

Abstract

Treating perioperative pain is an important consideration for all surgical procedures. The patient attitude and limb function improve when the pain is minimized. (Hoelzler et al., 2005). Many studies have investigated pain management after surgical procedures in human medicine, but relatively few studies comparing perioperative analgesic protocols have been performed in veterinary medicine. The present study was conducted to evaluate the analgesic effect of intra-articular injection of lidocaine and morphine after patellar luxation surgery in dog.
