Resumen: Ports are a key part in the development of international trade and, therefore, in the economic growth of countries. Despite the fact that one-third of African countries are landlocked, shipping remains the main gateway to the world market. In this chapter, we present different indicators of the performance of ports in Eastern Africa that could be produced by Port Authorities of the region in the future. Port performance evaluation research is basically aimed at measuring the efficiency of some of the port services. However, the criteria for evaluating efficiency do not address the performance of all agents that play a role in the port environment, and for this reason, this study includes financial and connectivity indicators of Eastern African ports in order to analyse different components of port performance.
