Abstract: Cloud-point extraction has been used for the preconcentration of Polychlorinated Biphenyls prior to their determination by High Performance Liquid Chromatography with fluorescence detection. Two non-ionic surfactants were employed: Oligoethylene Glycol Monoalkyl Ether (Genapol X-080) and Polyoxyethylene 10 Cetyl Ether (Brij 56). The optimum conditions for the preconcentration and determination of PCBs has been studied. This methodology has been applied with satisfactory results to the analysis of mixtures of these compounds in different sea water samples.
