In last years, the technology has suffered a great development in all fields, within these field, this project is focused on the field based on image acquisition techniques for medical applications. The image acquisition methods always have held a great importance for medical research. The most common medical imaging techniques are radiography, magnetic resonance imaging and tomography, among others. In this project an emerging technology known as hyperspectral imaging will be studied. This technology is based on the studied of different spectral bands to get important information from the subject of study. The system to study will be a hyperspectral microscopic system, because of that, it will be focused on the medical field of pathology. The system will be able to get high-resolution images with up to 50 times its original size, all of this being controlled through a PC. The main objective of this document is to present the system and develop the software that allows to obtain hyperspectral images. First, every part of the system and the system as a group will be characterized in order to understand the behaviour of it. After it, a custom software will be developed to correctly adjust the system to obtain high-quality hyperspectral images. To finish the project, once the system is working correctly, some applications will be also developed to know the potential of the system. Some possible applications to be develop are from an autofocus system to a super resolution system capable of obtaining a larger image with a higher resolution. This document is not conclusive about the applications and software development of the system, but it gives the study and characterization of it. It also provides different applications that will allow the researcher to have facilities to study different pathologies.
