Title: | Canarias en la planificación militar francesa, 1941-1943 | Authors: | Díaz Benítez, Juan José | Keywords: | Guerra, 1939-1945 (Mundial 2ª) Canarias Historia Francia Siglo 20 |
In 1941, the French army in Morocco created a report on the Canaries, subsequently revised until 1943, in which the islands and their military garrison were described, specially their airforce and the possible targets of an aerial attack. This paper intends to analize this report, contrasting its data with other information from unpublished Spanish sources of the same time period. It will also try to explain the reasons behind the creation of such a report, and the context of the relations between Spain and France during World War II, especially in reference to the territorial claims made by the Franco regime in the North of Africa and how this was perceived by French authorities |
