A bioprospection study has been carried out to identify the potential as antiparasitic agents of a group of marine microalgae, among which one strain of Halochlorella rubescens was selected for its activity against Acanthamoeba castellanii Neff. The results of the bio-guided fractionation of the extract by column chromatography are shown. In addition, a bibliographic revision on marine organisms, which include microalgae, sponges, and macroalgae, has been carried out in the search for secondary metabolites that possess antiparasitic activity against Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) such as trypanomiasis, leishmania or malaria, grouping the metabolites by their activity against these parasites.en_US
