Evaluación preliminar de los carotenoides en la piel del bocinegro (Pagrus pagrus) de cultivo

Abstract

Pigmentation enhacement of red porgy Pagrus pagrus is of great importance to produce this species in a commercial scale. lnteresting skin colour results have being obtained using unesterified and esterified astaxanthin in the diet. Nevertheless, there are few studies on the types of carotenoids in the skin of this animal. In the present study we suggest the presence of the following carotenoids: mono and diesters ofastaxanthin and tunaxanthin .
