A bioprospecting work has been carried out on marine microalgae, from which a strain of Chrysoreinhandia giraudii was selected for its anti-proliferative activity against a panel of 6 cancer cell lines. This job shows the preliminary results of the fraction of the selected extract. In addition, a bibliographic review of marine microalgae has been researched, those belonging to the Cyanobacteria Phylum. Cyanobacteria are emerging as an important source of novel bioactive secondary metabolites; such as apratoxins, dolastatin, and curacin A. These compounds have biological activities such as antioxidant, antitumor, anticancer and antiproliferative activity. This review is an attempt to consolidate the latest studies and critical research in this field, and to showcase the immense competence of cianobacteria as bioactive metabolite producers.en_US
