This Final Degree Project evaluates calcium levels postpartum in two Canarian goat breeds, the Tinerfeña and the Palmera, also comparing two analytical measurement methods: the Metrolab 2300 and the Catalyst One. The research arises from an interest in mineral alterations that can affect the health and productivity of goats after giving birth, particularly subclinical hypocalcemia. Physiological, nutritional, and methodological factors influencing calcium levels are analyzed, as well as the clinical implications of the obtained results. Through statistical analyses, significant differences are detected between the measurement methods, but not between the evaluated breeds. The study highlights the importance of precise mineral control during the peripartum period to prevent metabolic disorders and improve reproductive and productive management in goats. It was concluded that no statistically significant effects were detected for breed or for the breed × method interaction. There is a statistically significant difference between the methods, with the Catalyst One method reporting significantly higher concentrations than the Metrolab 2300 methoden_US
