Abstract: This study presents the planning and development of a sustainable event with undergraduate students of tourism from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez aimed at observing and photographing animals and plants in their natural habitats. The academic experience implements ecotourism through various educational learning activities, active recreation, and the protection and improvement of nature in White Sands National Park, New Mexico, US. This event contributes to promoting tourism with minimal impact on nature, strengthening the practical training of the participants, and increasing the participants’ readiness to generate an academic product and communicate their results in a plenary session. At the same time, it promotes the professional training of the participants for the organization of other events linked to nature-based sustainable tourism.
