Issue Date: | 2024 | Abstract: | Coronaviruses (CoVs) infections are common in animals and humans, with some strains being zoonotic. The current COVID-19 pandemic originated in China and has spread globally, with millions of cases reported worldwide. Cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been identified in animals such as cats, mink and dogs, raising concerns about interspecies transmission. The importance of understanding the susceptibility of different animal species to SARS-CoV-2 and assessing the dynamics of infection in susceptible animal species is crucial for human and animal health, wildlife conservation and biomedical research. A total of 177 animals were included in the study, from those who had blood samples and nasopharyngeal swabs collected.
