Abstract: Gestational toxaemia is a metabolic disorder characterised by hypoglycaemia and hyperketonemia resulting in an inability of the animal to maintain energy balance. Propylene glycol and glucocorticoids are used for the treatment of this pathology because they increase blood glucose levels. The work consists of a clinical trial comparing four groups of goats, group 0 (P0) is the control group which was not administered any drugs, group 1 (P1) was given orally 30 ml propylene glycol, group 2 (P2) was injected a dose of 0,24 mg/kg IM prednisolone and group 3 (P3) was administered with a dose of 30 ml propylene glycol and a dose of 0,24 mg/kg IM prednisolone. The purpose of this study was to assess the glucose level and persistence of glycaemia. In this experiment, 7 blood samples were collected, the first one before treatment and the other 6 after treatment. The results of the study were that group 1 (P1) had the highest increase in glucose compared to the other groups. As for the groups treated with prednisolone, group 3 (P3) presented a glucose peak at 30 minutes.
