Title: Fertility rate and reproductive problems on bovine in two cattle farms of the metropolitan area of fortaleza, northeast of Brazil

Abstract: A study to compare the breed and the reproductive situation was performed in two cattle farms of the State of Ceará, Brazil. A sample of 30 cows was taken in each farm. In both farms it was took a voluntary period of waiting of 45 days and the gynaecological examination was done every 60 days. Group A had cows from Guzerat breed and showed a 46,7% of cows in lactation with a media of days in lactation of 125,8 days with an approximated production of 8L per day. The interval between birth was of 14 months. Regarding the diseases, a 9% of the individuals presented a case of mastitis, 3% a case of vaginitis, a 13% a case of endometritis, 1,5% a case of pyometra and a 3,33% a case of Brucellosis in the last 12 months. Concerning Group B, it has cows from Girolando breed. It showed a 73,3% of cows in lactation with a media of days in lactation of 285 days and a media of production per day of 15L per cow. The interval between births is of 16 months. Regarding the diseases a 21% suffered from mastitis on the last 12 months, a 6,7% from vaginitis, a 20% of endometritis, a 3 % of pyometra and a 7,8% of Brucellosis.
