Abstract: A comparative study of gastric carcinoma in the canine species in comparison with the human species, it can be observed that the etiology of both is complex, where the cause has not been identified in any of the two species. Regarding the clinical signs in both humans and dogs are similar and usually appear when the disease is already in advanced stages. The main difference is its location, where in the canine species it is usually more localized in the lesser curvature and in the region of the pyloric antrum, while in humans it can affect both the greater and lesser curvature. Endoscopy is the diagnostic method of choice for both species, but the treatment varies from one species to another, where in the canine species the usual surgical technique is Billroth I or Billroth II which are performed by open laparotomy, while in humans Billroth I is no longer used and a combination of Billroth II and Roux-en-Y is performed by endoscopic surgery. In this study, we include a case of a canine patient operated by means of a Billroth II and a mounted Roux-en-Y loop, previously reported at the South European Veterinary Conference 2016.
