Abstract: This study focused on the evaluation of the presence of Salmonella spp. in ferret population of Gran Canaria. There were used for the study a total of 23 apparently healthy ferrets of which was taken into account the diet received in case there was a correlation. Ferret owners were surveyed to collect the necessary information on feeding, age and gender among other data. The fecal samples were processed by standard microbiological culture method following the ISO 6589 (2017), the results showed that no one from the 23 ferrets was positive for Salmonella spp. getting a prevalence of 0 in this study, regardless of the diet they had. On the other hand, bacterial growth was observed, whose results in the biochemical tests allow us to suspect from other bacteria.
