Abstract: In this study, the main elements that can make up a natural treatment system for wastewater have been developed. The most important phenomena, parameters and properties of operation and design of Natural Depuration Systems (NDS) for effluents from livestock farms in isolated island territories have been analysed. Likewise, a bibliographic review of the main monitoring techniques to control the anaerobic process and/or the quality of the water currently used has been carried out, with the aim of clarifying their strengths and weaknesses. To propose a system for the observation and treatment of the variables and parameters that affect the SDN, seeking the simplicity of application and the economic technical feasibility of said implementation. To do this, it has been proposed an Integrated and Resilient System (IRS) to measure the variables through low-cost and open-hardware (sensors, data loggers, control systems, …) technology, and applying IoT strategies to share, and analysis the information collected. In addition, it has been added energy variables in the data acquisition strategy for the IRS to assess the energy resource from renewable sources available in the area, with the aim of providing the system with autonomy and/or improving the operation of the plant. This last work proposal includes the possible use of the energy resource of potential renewable gases (Biomethane, H2,...) produced by the anaerobic digestion of the NDS. It has been possible to conclude that it is feasible to make a measurement system of these characteristics, not only for the parameterization of the NDS, thanks to the great resilience and simplicity that this type of technology presents, as well as its low cost. Therefore, the SDN operation process could be improved thanks to this technology.
