Abstract: Are presented the historical evolution of fish catches during the twentieth century in the small-scale fishery of Gran Canaria Island. Data has been reconstructed from data given by fishermen associations, reports and grey literature, historical photos and interviews. Catches showed a progressive decreasing a long time but the decreasing tendency is more sloped from 1970 onward.
