Abstract: The Spanish language has significantly contributed to the lexical enrichment of English throughout history. The Canary Islands, a Spanish archipelago off the West coast of Africa, have always been in close contact with the Anglo-Saxon world. A review of the English bibliography on the Canaries reveals a tendency in most authors to use Spanish words, phrases and even sentences in their texts. Romances are no exception, as proved by the compilation I offer here of all the Hispanicisms employed in the corpus of novels compiled for research project FFI2014-53962-P.
