Análisis del turismo insular canario

Abstract

El turismo se remonta a años muy lejanos en el archipiélago canario, realizándose en aquellos tiempos por motivos muy diferentes a los que encontramos en la actualidad. Existen diversos tipos de turismo en las islas, de los cuales predomina el turismo de sol y playa. A su vez, también se puede hacer una diferenciación en el perfil del turista que visita Canarias según su lugar de residencia: turista internacional, nacional, e insular. Este último se compone de personas residentes en las islas Canarias. Para la debida investigación sobre este tipo de turistas (características principales, tipo de turismo realizado, servicios contratados, etc.), ha sido indispensable la elaboración de un cuestionario mediante el cual se ha obtenido la información necesaria. Esto nos ha ayudado a entender más las prioridades del turista insular, y la afluencia que tiene en el archipiélago. Como resultados destacados encontramos el gran porcentaje de personas que viaja entre las islas Canarias y que la gran mayoría realiza estos viajes varias veces al año, siendo el ocio el principal motivo.

Tourism has existed in the Canary Islands since many years. However, at the beginning, the reasons to travel to the islands were totally different than nowadays. There are many types of tourism in the Canaries but prevail sun and beach tourism. In addition, we may classify the tourists that visit the archipelago depending on where they come from: national, international or insular tourists. With this latter type we refer to the residents in the islands who decide to spend their holidays in here. In this thesis we have analize how this kind of tourism is (main characteristics, the sort of tourism they do, the services they hire, etc.) and we have conducted a survey that has allowed us to identify the priorities of these insular tourists and how regularly they travel around the islands. As a conclusion, we have inferred that, in general, a high percentage of Canarian people choose to travel between the islands, several times a year and, mainly, for leisure.
