Aspectos biológicos de Paromola cuvieri (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura: Homolidae)

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se da información biológica y biométrica de 589 ejemplares de Paromola cuvieri Risso, 1816 (Crustacea, Decapoda, Brachyura, Homolidae) que fueron capturados en Gran Canaria entre 2003 y 2011. Los individuos fueron recolectados entre 273 y 841 m de profundidad. En todos los ejemplares se midió la longitud (LC) y anchura del caparazón, longitud y anchura de la quela izquierda y derecha, longitud del quelipedo izquierdo y derecho, anchura del quinto somito abdominal y el peso total. El rango de tallas estuvo comprendido entre 42,20 y 158,80 mm LC y el de pesos entre 47,40 y 2224,30 g. La proporción general entre machos y hembras presentó diferencias significativas de la relación teórica 1:1 (1:1,81; ?2 = 49,15) y fue calculada por estratos, cuatrimestres y rangos de tallas. Se estudió la distribución vertical y espacial por grupo sexual (machos, hembras ovígeras y hembras no ovígeras), así como las relaciones alométricas entre las medidas realizadas y longitud del caparazón.

This paper provides biological and biometric information of 589 specimens of Paromola cuvieri Risso, 1816 (Crustacea, Decapoda, Brachyura, Homolidae) who were captured in Gran Canaria between 2003 and 2011. Individuals were collected between 273 and 841 m depth. In all specimens was measured the length (CL) and carapace width, length and width of the left and right chela, length of cheliped left and right, abdomen width and total weight. The size range was between 42.20 and 158.80 mm CL and the weights between 47.40 and 2224.30 g. The overall ratio between males and females differed significantly from the theoretical 1:1 (1:1,81; ?2 = 49.15) and was calculated by strata, four months periods and size ranges. We studied the spatial and vertical distribution by sex group (males, ovigerous females and non ovigerous females) and allometric relationships between the measurements and carapace length.
