Resumen: This study shows the effect of the initial egg density culture and the influence of different photoperiods on the growth and survival rate of red porgy's, Pagrus pagrus (Linnaeus, 1758), larvae. Both experiments, egg stocking density and photoperiod, had the same daily treatment for feeding and culture parameters. They had a duration of 17 days, at the end of which growth and survival rates were measured for the three egg stocking densities (100, 80 and 60 eggs/1) and for the two photoperiod (24 h and 12:12 hours) treatmen ts. No significant differences were observed in survival rate for the two different photoperiods, although in growth rate there was a significant difference between both photoperiods (P<0.05). The best growth rate was obtained under the 24 h photoperiod; concerning survival rate, although no significant differences were found, the highest one was obtained under 24 h photoperiod too. No significant differences were observed in growth and survival rate in the case of egg stocking density.
