Abstract: Luminescence can be defined as radiation emitted from atoms or molecules as they undergo a radiative transition from an excited state to a lower energy state. After the absorption of incident radiation, the emission of a photon during the radiative transition is called photoluminescence. The process of photoluminescence encompasses both fluorescence and phosphorescence.
