Abstract: Growth is a complex process that is influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Nutrition is one of the most important determinants of an adequate growth. The nutritional status of the preconceptional mother, maternal nutritional during pregnancy and nutrition after birth can all influence not only the size and weight of the newborn child, but also hers or his future overall health status.
