Abstract

El presente artículo bosqueja la estancia del primer científico ruso en las Canarias y ponede relieve cómo su incipiente investigación con las calciesponjas en Lanzarote contribuyódecisivamente al avance de los estudios evolucionistas de su maestro Ernst Haeckel.Algunos dibujos realizados por el entonces joven ruso en la isla de los volcanes y enlugares por los que pasó en su viaje a Lanzarote y en el de vuelta a Alemania acompañanal texto.

Dieser Aufsatz behandelt den Aufenthalt des ersten russischen Wissenschaftlers auf denKanaren und unterstreicht, wie entscheidend seine auf Lanzarote begonnene Forschungüber Kalkschwämme für die Erweiterung der Evolutionsstudien seines Lehrers, ErnstHaeckel, war. Einige der von dem damals noch jungen Russen auf der Vulkaninsel sowiean Orten, an denen er sich auf seiner Reise nach Lanzarote und der Rückreise nachDeutschland aufhielt, angefertigten Zeichnungen, begleiten den Text.

This article outlines the stay of the first Russian scientist in the Canary Islands anddescribes how his early research into calcisponges in Lanzarote played a decisive role inthe progress of the evolutionary studies of his teacher Ernst Haeckel. The text is illustratedwith some of the drawings done by the then young Russian on the volcanic island and ofthe places he travelled through en route to Lanzarote and on his way back to Germany.
