Abstract

Curanderos y sanadores nacieron ante la necesidad de hacer frente a los escasos medios que tenía la isla para curar sus enfermedades, la poca confianza que les daban los conquistadores y sobre todo ante la aparición de nuevas epidemias y plagas, que año tras año dejaban los visitantes y transeúntes. Partiendo de la premisa de que la “magia” popular es utilitaria, un medio para lograr un fin.
