Resumen: En un debate multidisciplinario y tras revisar la eviden-cia disponible así como la experiencia de los expertos seestablecen las indicaciones y pautas de manejo de la Nutri-ción Parenteral Complementaria (NPC) en el paciente críti-camente enfermo. Se concluye en la importancia de su indi-cación en todos los casos en que la nutrición enteral (NE) seainsuficiente para cubrir al menos el 60% del objetivo caló-rico-proteico. El paciente debe cubrir con la NE y la NPC almenos el 80% de sus objetivos calóricos, recomendándose elobjetivo del 100%.
In the setting of a multidisciplinary debate, and afterreviewing the available evidence as well as the experiencefrom experts, the indications and management guidelinesfor Complementary Parenteral Nutrition (CPN) in the cri-tically ill patient are established. The conclusion refers tothe importance of its indication in all the cases where ente-ral nutrition (EN) is insufficient to cover at least 60% of thecaloric-protein target. At least 80% of the patient’s caloricrequirements should be covered with EN and CPN, with therecommendation of targeting 100% of the demands.
