The reaction leads to the formation of seven- and eight-membered siloxycycles in excellent yields which could be further converted into the corresponding allylic alcohols upon oxidation. Thus, the method could be used for the selective (Z)-hydroxymethylation of o-hydroxystyrenes and alkenols.
