TRANSFORMACIONES SOCIALES Y PROCESOS GLOBALIZADOS EN EL MUNDO CONTEMPORÁNEO. CANARIAS Y LOS DESAFÍOS GLOBALES RECIENTES: Esta línea de investigación estudia la génesis histórica de los impactos producidos en Canarias como consecuencia de los procesos de globalización y sus cambios sociales. Se centra en las grandes transformaciones acaecidas y en las nuevas problemáticas surgidas desde la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Los principales puntos de interés de las investigaciones que se realizan en este ámbito se refieren, entre otros, a procesos internaciones de cooperación e integración, la sociedad turística, los movimientos humanos, los cambios culturales y las brechas de desigualdad producidas.
INVESTIGACIÓN E INNOVACIÓN EN DIDÁCTICA DE LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES: El objetivo de esta línea de investigación es conectar la Historia y la Geografía con su didáctica, con el fin de contribuir a una mejora de la enseñanza-aprendizaje de las Ciencias Sociales en general, y de la Historia en particular, en las diferentes etapas educativas.
CANARIAS EN ESPAÑA Y EN EL SISTEMA INTERNACIONAL: HECHO DIFERENCIAL, GEOPOLÍTICA ATLÁNTICA Y CUESTIONES DE SEGURIDAD: Esta línea de investigación se propone estudiar el papel desempeñado por Canarias en España, en su política exterior y de seguridad y en el sistema internacional tomando como principal vector de análisis su insularidad atlántica. El hecho diferencial canario, la situación estratégica del Archipiélago en las rutas marítimas y aéreas trasatlánticas y los problemas específicos que la lejanía continental plantea a la defensa de las islas han gravitado permanentemente en las preocupaciones de la política exterior y de seguridad española, tanto en tiempos de paz como de guerra, imponiendo unos perfiles singulares a la forma en que Canarias se ha integrado en el mundo o al modo en que los acontecimientos mundiales han repercutido sobre Canarias. Desvelar las constantes y las variantes que se han producido en el desarrollo de estos procesos de integración de Canarias en la política nacional e internacional del mundo contemporáneo constituye el principal objetivo de esta línea de investigación en la que se entremezclan la economía, la geopolítica, la defensa y la diplomacia.
RELACIONES INTERNACIONALES DE ESPAÑA EN EL MUNDO CONTEMPORÁNEO: Esta línea de investigación tiene por objetivo contribuir al estudio de las relaciones internacionales de España en el mundo contemporáneo, con particular referencia al tratamiento de la política exterior española entre la crisis de redistribución colonial de 1898 y la crisis de descolonización del Sahara de 1975. Han centrado las principales preocupaciones en este ámbito el análisis de los procesos de toma de decisiones de la diplomacia española, el seguimiento de las políticas de cooperación e integración en tiempos de paz, el análisis comparado de la implicación o apartamiento español en tiempos de guerra, la caracterización del comportamiento español en los sistemas internacionales que han existido en la edad contemporánea y la profundización en el conocimiento de la historiografía internacionalista española durante el siglo XX.
INTERESES EXTRANJEROS EN CANARIAS Y PROYECCIÓN DE LOS CANARIOS EN EL MUNDO ATLÁNTICO: El propósito de esta línea de investigación es profundizar en el conocimiento de la doble vertiente de recepción de lo ajeno y de proyección de lo propio que se ha dado en la estrecha interconexión entre Canarias y el mundo atlántico durante la edad contemporánea. Se trata, pues, de indagar tanto en el despliegue de los intereses e influjos foráneos en las islas como en el desarrollo de proyectos y logros protagonizados por los canarios en el exterior. Personas, colectivos, empresas, asociaciones, iniciativas individuales, acciones colectivas y políticas públicas de cooperación constituyen los principales centros de atención de una mirada, tanto retrospectiva como actual, que trata de indagar en la complejidad de las relaciones económicas, sociales, políticas y culturales que Canarias ha establecido con los británicos, los alemanes y los franceses, lo mismo que con los norteafricanos o los latinoamericanos, materializando con ello su permanente vinculación con el mundo atlántico.

TRANSFORMACIONES SOCIALES Y PROCESOS GLOBALIZADOS EN EL MUNDO CONTEMPORÁNEO. CANARIAS Y LOS DESAFÍOS GLOBALES RECIENTES: This line of research studies the historical origin of the impacts that has occurred in the Canary Islands as a result of globalization processes and their social changes, as well as the analysis of the large trasformations that have taken place and the new quandaries since the second half of the 20th Century. The main centers of interest of the research carried out in this field are, among others, international cooperation and integration processes, the tourist society, the human movements, the cultural changes and the output inequalty gap.
INVESTIGACIÓN E INNOVACIÓN EN DIDÁCTICA DE LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES: The objective of this line of research is to connect History and Geography with its didactics, in order to contribute to an improvement of the teaching-learning of the Social Sciences in general, and of History in particular, in the different educational stages.
CANARIAS EN ESPAÑA Y EN EL SISTEMA INTERNACIONAL: HECHO DIFERENCIAL, GEOPOLÍTICA ATLÁNTICA Y CUESTIONES DE SEGURIDAD: This line of research aims to study the role played by the Canary Islands in Spain, in its foreign and security policy and in the international system, taking as its main vector of analysis its Atlantic insularity. The Canarian differential fact, the strategic situation of the Archipelago in the transatlantic sea and air routes and the specific problems that the continental distance poses to the defense of the islands have permanently gravitated to the concerns of Spanish foreign and security policy, both in times of peace and war, imposing unique profiles on the way in which the Canary Islands have integrated into the world or the way in which world events have affected the Canary Islands. Revealing the constants and variants that have occurred in the development of these processes of integration of the Canary Islands in the national and international politics of the contemporary world is the main objective of this line of research in which the economy, geopolitics, defense and diplomacy are intermingled.
RELACIONES INTERNACIONALES DE ESPAÑA EN EL MUNDO CONTEMPORÁNEO: This line of research aims to contribute to the study of the international relations of Spain in the contemporary world, with particular reference to the treatment of Spanish foreign policy between the crisis of colonial redistribution of 1898 and the crisis of decolonization of the Sahara in 1975.The main concerns in this area are the analysis of the decision-making processes of Spanish diplomacy, the monitoring of cooperation and integration policies in times of peace, the comparative analysis of Spanish involvement or withdrawal in times of war, the characterization of Spanish behavior in international systems that have existed in the contemporary age and the deepening knowledge of Spanish internationalist historiography during the 20th century.
INTERESES EXTRANJEROS EN CANARIAS Y PROYECCIÓN DE LOS CANARIOS EN EL MUNDO ATLÁNTICO: The purpose of this line of research is to deepen the knowledge of the double side of reception of the alien and of projection of the own thing that has occurred in the narrow interconnection between the Canary Islands and the Atlantic world during the contemporary age. It is a matter, therefore, of investigating both the deployment of foreign interests and influences in the islands and the development of projects and achievements carried out by canaries abroad. People, groups, companies, associations, individual initiatives, collective actions and public policies of cooperation are the main focus of a look, both retrospective and current, which seeks to investigate the complexity of economic, social, political and cultural relations that the Canary Islands have established with the British, the Germans and the French, as well as with the North Africans or Latin Americans, thus materializing their permanent link with the Atlantic world.
