DETECCIÓN DE BIOTOXINAS EN EL MEDIO MARINO Y SEGURIDAD ALIMENTARIA: Esta línea trata de responder a los retos que supone la presencia de distintas biotoxinas marinas en el medio acuático y en distintas especies que forman parte de la cadena trófica marina y continental. Se investiga el medio y las causas que justifican el incremento de su prevalencia en los últimos años. Se valora el riesgo de presentación y su posible transmisión a la especie humana. También se estudian distintos métodos de detección de las toxinas y sus consecuencias en la salud de las especies que resultan afectadas.
HERPETOLOGÍA: En esta línea se estudian fundamentalmente las causas de enfermedad de los reptiles, así como sus manifestaciones clínicas y patológicas, fundamentalmente en relación con causas infecciosas.
ENFERMEDADES DE LOS PECES, MOLUSCOS Y CRUSTÁCEOS: Esta línea se enfoca al estudio de las principales enfermedades de los peces que afectan a su producción. Algunas de ellas se relacionan con procesos de naturaleza infecciosa de primer nivel de interés. Fundamentalmente se investiga la respuesta inmune de los peces, definición de nuevos agentes causales, los factores de patogenicidad y los métodos de lucha contra la enfermedad. Esta línea también incluye aquellas enfermedades que afectan a humanos y las vehiculan los peces.
MICOLOGÍA-MICOSIS: En esta línea se implementa el estudio de las enfermedades producidas por hongos como agentes infecciosos de interés en medicina veterinaria. Se estudian fundamentalmente los hongos como causa de enfermedad en distintas especies animales, la epidemiología de distintos procesos micóticos de interés y medidas alternativas para el control de estas enfermedades. De forma particular, también interesan las zoonosis, especialmente los aspectos que conllevan los distintos mecanismos de transmisión y la medidas de control de la enfermedad.

DETECCIÓN DE BIOTOXINAS EN EL MEDIO MARINO Y SEGURIDAD ALIMENTARIA: This line tries to answer the challenges regarding the presence of different marine biotoxins in the aquatic environment and different species that are part of the marine and continental food chain.the environment and the causes that justify the increase in its prevalence in recent years are investigated. The risk of presentation and its possible transmission to the humans is assessed. Different methods for detecting the toxins and the consequences on the health of the affected species are also studied.
HERPETOLOGÍA: This line develops the study of different cause of diseases in reptiles, specially those involving infectious diseases, and their clinical and pathological signs
ENFERMEDADES DE LOS PECES, MOLUSCOS Y CRUSTÁCEOS: This line is focused on the study of the main fish diseases that affect its production. Some of them are related to an infectious nature of the first level of interest. Immune response of fish, definition of new causal agents, pathogenicity factors and methods to fight against disease is mainly investigated. This line also includes those diseases that affect humans and are carried by fish. Particularly stand out the diseases included in the oie list and those of interest, such as zoonoses.
MICOLOGÍA-MICOSIS: This line involves fungus as causative agents of infectious diseases with interest in veterinary medicine. These agents of diseases are also studied in different animals species, and the epidemiology of different major fungal diseases and possible measures for controlling. Particularly, study of zoonoses, including the mechanisms of transmission and control of these outbreaks are also considered.
